I’ve always loved photography, yet it took me a long time to realize that I could extend my photography beyond just a hobby. I went the “practical” route in college and ended up with a degree in statistics (I know, the horror!!). I still love math, but I have never felt completely “at home” in the math world. I took some photography courses along the way, but it still took me a while to combine my love of numbers with my love of art. I believe that my math and scientific background have been immensely valuable to me as a photographer. Photography is truly a combination of art and science.
Then I had my first child. That’s when I discovered my love of photographing children. Becoming a mother gave me a passion for portraiture, for capturing emotion and relationship through the camera. Every age is so precious and I find myself continually feeling like “my child can’t get any cuter than this.” It’s so wonderful to be able to stop time, because as cliche as it sounds, time really does fly and portraits seem to help preserve the unique memories of a child’s different stages.
Being able to expand my passion for photographing my children into a business where I get to also participate in the lives and growth of other people’s children has been a really wonderful experience. I feel blessed to be able to “do” for a living something that I genuinely enjoy and that I know is important to me and to the families with which I work.

Hi Kim,
As I’ve mentioned, I’d like to buy a copy of an Easter photo of my son-in-law. It is marked “08easter115blog-1jp”. It has a close=up of Stewart on the right, the cross in the forefront, and two guys in the left background. Please remind me of your pricing structure.
Thanks,
Martha Bunch

Love the pictures,as always. Merry Christmas and sorry that it’s been so long! Have a quick question for you-friend related, rather than business related-sorry! A fellow Christian friend of mine would like to Email and/or call you about West Suburban Midwifery & your experience there. Could I refer her here to contact you? P.S. Greetings to your children! I still remember the wonderful pictures you took at the Knowlton party and how you hosted Lexi and me to get to know Ella better before Parents Day Out. We are grateful for your friendship, even though we do a delinquent job of staying in touch.

Hi Marcia,
Merry Christmas to your family too. Great to hear from you. I’d be happy to talk to your friend about West Suburban Midwifery. We had a good experience with them. Probably easiest for her to email me at kim@kimjohnsonphotography.com
